Today’s Favorite Etsy Item!

Today’s favorite Etsy item is the Fighting Birds Tee by 1AEON. I like the color and punk rock nature of the black print. 1AEON, the New York based company started printing shirts in 2004 and became very popular with the one-of-a-kind, multi layered hand silkscreened, colorful tees, not to mention they are mostly glow in the dark. You can find 1AEON items (t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, scarfs) in several stores from NY to Tokyo. 1AEON’s style is inspired by mythological and futuristic imagery. The company came up with a simplified single print series, with more affordable prices, so the shirts are available to more customers and open for re-order. Sweet Trendy Flinstones!

Monday, March 31st, 2008

I know they wouldn’t exactly fit in with the rest of my furniture, but I love these bookcases. If I had my own brick and mortar clothing store, I would definitely put these in it. Swedish designers Smansk showed a prototype of their Skew bookcase at the Greenhouse young designers showcase at the Stockholm Furniture Fair last month. The bookcase consists of identical modular components that are stacked facing alternate directions to create sloping shelves. Sloping shelves mean you do not have to arrange the shelves in various heights as with ordinary bookcases. There are room for binders at the high end of each shelve and pocket books at the low end. All parts of the bookcase are identical. To assemble it you just rotate the parts and place them on top of each other. The identical parts provides easy manufacturing as well. Smansk are currently seeking an appropriate manufacturer for the design.

Wow, this shirt is so awesome. I couldn’t help but laugh at it. It’s Danny Devito as a Pokemon. I never knew how incomplete my wardrobe was until I found out I don’t have this shirt. Check out more cool art and shirts by the artist Brandon Bird at www.brandonbird.com

I love this idea!

Check out this cool design from the Red Dot Design Awards. It’s a backpack cooler with style. Too bad it’s just a prototype for now. When they start making these, I’ll be first in line to get one.

My Favorite Etsy item this week is this Ride in the Rain Tee by Supastarr.
I love the simple graphic, and the tone on tone color combination. It’s made by another eco-friendly printer, who also runs a fair trade coffee shop. Can’t beat that! Check out the Etsy item listing here:
