Today’s favorite Handmade Item!
I am in the mood for blue today! I found an Etsy treasury that had all blue items, and this is my favorite one. This blue flocked silk purse by Spongetta is not too big, not too small, but just right. I love the detailing, and the easy access provided by the ring holders. This purse is one of a kind, but there are more in different colors shapes, and sizes at Spongetta’s etsy store! Spongetta is Betsy and Sarah, 2 women from New York with a passion for fabric. Betsy was that pesky child who could not (would not) follow directions. As an adult living by the rules, this is her creative outlet. The designs are not earthshakingly new, but rather twists on the traditional reinterpreted with unexpected material and shapes. Inspiration comes from all over her house and yard. Many of the purse patterns are based on the dishes in the cupboard. Although most supplies are new (will be mentioned in the descriptions when not), they are often the disassociated; discontinued upholstery samples, scraps from alterations, end bolts, remnants, and yard sale finds.
Sara is the master seamstress! With a background in garment construction, she is now exploring the world of quilts. For more great accessories, and to find out more about Spongetta, I suggest visiting their Etsy store!
